Lighthouse partnered with San Francisco University High School to secure entitlements for a transformative campus expansion — a new 45,000-square-foot academic facility located on California Street. In addition to gaining approval for the new building, Lighthouse also successfully led the effort to increase the school’s enrollment cap, allowing more students to benefit from its rigorous college preparatory program. The new facility will include state-of-the-art classrooms, faculty offices, and an NCAA-regulation gymnasium, enhancing both the academic and athletic experience for students. Lighthouse worked closely with school leadership to align project goals with the school’s long-term vision, while ensuring compliance with the city’s planning and zoning requirements.
Recognizing that the project faced vocal neighborhood opposition, Lighthouse took a proactive approach to community engagement and issue resolution by facilitating dialogue between school representatives, neighbors, and City officials to address concerns and build consensus around the project’s benefits. By developing a tailored outreach strategy and providing strategic guidance throughout the entitlement process, Lighthouse was instrumental in securing unanimous approvals from the San Francisco Planning Commission.
