Lighthouse Public Affairs played a central role in navigating the complex public approval process for Francisco Park, San Francisco’s first major new park in decades, built on the site of the former Francisco Reservoir. Representing the Francisco Park Conservancy, Lighthouse developed and executed a comprehensive outreach and communications strategy to build broad public and political support for the project. This included managing stakeholder engagement, facilitating meetings with neighborhood groups, and addressing concerns from nearby residents and elected officials.
Lighthouse also led the effort to secure approvals from multiple city agencies, including the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission and Board of Supervisors. By anticipating political obstacles and crafting targeted messaging to highlight the park’s environmental, recreational, and historical value, we helped turn a long-dormant, fenced-off property into a celebrated public space. The result: a unanimous vote of approval and a smooth path from concept to construction—delivering a transformational open-space project in the heart of the city.
